The weekend at the cottage was pretty fun. Going up was disorganized as usual. First my friend had a flat tire so that delayed us leaving. Then we had to stop in Peterborough to go to the beer store since the one closer to his cottage doesn't start staying open later until the May 2-4. We also had to go to Canadian Tire to pick up a pump. While there we passed by the pellet guns, which led to him and I standing around for well over half an hour debating which one he should buy, whether or not he should buy one, etc. Well he did (and got it cheap since it was the last one) and it was a very wise investment.
We didn't really DO all that much, just sat around and drank. Friday night I was beginning to pass out around midnight until my friend questioned my commitment to beer drinking. Of course I couldn't let that pass so up I got and we ended up drinking until about 3:30 or 4 I think.
Saturday we sat around and drank some more, went for a boat ride, shot some beer cans, etc. I got a pretty bad sunburn on my knees and forearms, we were just sitting out on his deck and didn't bother putting any sunscreen on until it was too late. My arms aren't too bad today, but man are my knees ever burnt.
My friend ended up passing out just before 9, swearing he was going to get up in an hour. Well, an hour went by and his girlfriend couldn't wake him so I said fuck it and went to bed myself. Apparently he awoke about 15 minutes later and tried to wake me up but couldn't so all us wild party animals were in bed shortly after 10 pm. Though in our defense we were drinking since about 10 am, so that might have had something to do with it.
Of course our early bedtimes mean we were up early Sunday morning. Originally we were going to leave around 2, but my friend and I went out for another boat ride. We had a couple beers, which led to a couple more, which then led to my friend's girlfriend having to drive home and us leaving around 7 or so and not getting home until 10.
All in all it was a pretty fun weekend. We didn't do all that much and with just the three of us up there it was a little boring at times. But it was also incredibly relaxing which was just what I needed after a pretty stressful week of work. That's exactly why I wish my family would buy a cottage. I realize there's alot more that goes into a cottage than what I see when I just go up for a visit on the weekend, but just the idea that at any time you can get away from everything and just decompress seems like heaven to me.
poor pathetic me
me, blabbering on about whatever I want since there's no one to stop me
