Guess all I needed to stoke the blogging fire was the return of hockey. Anyways, the Leafs let another game slip through their fingers last night despite playing very well for the most part. Of course, what's today's headline in The Sun? 'Leafs: Wait 'Til Next Year'. Why's that? Because they lost two very close, one goal games to last year's Eastern Conference champions and pretty much the consensus pick as the best team in the East, if not the NHL.

So that's it, 2 games in and the season is over. I guess the Leafs should just forfeit the rest of the season and hope to get the #1 pick in next year's draft. I mean, come the fuck on. Let's look at last night's events:
- a questionable ruling of no goal against the Leafs, I guess you can't drive to the net anymore
- Heatley gets a goal thanks to a TV timeout giving NHL head office time to review what looked like a great save and give Ottawa a goal
- the Leafs pretty much dominated the 2nd period
- a string of 3 straight penalties late in the 3rd (some questionable, some called for) set up the game winning goal

Call me an eternal optimist, but I saw little in these first 2 games to be horribly worried about outside of the 0-for-14 performance on the power play. So, GO LEAFS GO!
